Woodside Medical Practice |
Confidentiality and Data ProtectionAll medical information is normally confidential. All staff are aware of the importance of medical confidentiality and this means that information cannot be given about relatives or friends without their permission. You do have a right to see your medical records within certain guidelines. There is a small fee set by the government for this. Please ask at reception if you would like further information about how to do this. In most situations we will need your written consent to disclose any information to a third party. There are certain exceptions such as if you are referred to another health care professional or if the law requires us to such as with notification of certain infectious diseases. As of 31st October 2003, all medical practices had to comply with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 by producing a Publication Scheme. The Scheme makes available information about the practice including the right of patients to have access to their patient records. The Scheme for Woodside Medical Practice can be accessed via the Telford and Wrekin PCT website at www.telfordpct.nhs.uk or HERE.
