Repeat Prescriptions

If you are on long term treatment your Doctor may put this on repeat prescription. This means you can get a prescription without seeing your Doctor.

Your prescription can be obtained by using the Repeat Prescription Ordering Service that can be accessed via the On Line Services page.

You can also order your prescription by leaving the tear off strip from your previous prescription with a tick by the medication you need.

Alternatively you may telephone the surgery between10.00am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.00pm.

Please allow 2 full clear working days before collecting your prescription during normal working hours. The table below will show you when you can pick up your prescription based on the day you request it.

Prescription Requested: You can pick up your prescription:
Monday Wednesday
Tuesday Thursday
Wednesday Friday
Thursday Following Monday
Friday Following Tuesday

Certain medication such as the contraceptive pill may appear on your repeat prescription but for health reasons you will need to see the nurse to obtain them. Other medication may require you to have special blood tests before they can be safely given, so even though they appear on your Repeat Prescription list for your information you may still need to see the doctor or nurse before they can be given.

Please note all people on long term repeat prescriptions will need to be reviewed by the doctor or nurse from time to time so you may be asked to make an appointment.

Asthma medication is best reviewed by the fully trained Asthma nurse.

Hormone Replacement therapy is best reviewed by the Nurses who are fully trained and qualified in Well Woman care.

Remember, it is possible to order your repeat prescription on line now. Please try the service!

Drug Name Changes

As detailed on the News pages, from July 2004 some of your medicines have had to change their name. We have provided a list of the most common name changes HERE. If you are concerned that your prescription may be wrong, please contact the surgery.
