Blood Test's and Blood Pressure

Blood Tests

Here at Woodside Medical Practice, we offer blood tests onsite for our patients. Please note that you can only book in for a blood test if a medical professional has requested it.

If a medical professional from outside the practice has requested this, then you MUST bring the blood form or letter they give you to your appointment. This form tells our nurses, nursing associates, and health care assistants what blood tests to take.

To book an appointment, please call us at 01952 586691 or come in to the practice and speak to one of our receptionists.

Please note:

  • If you require blood for a medication review, please allow a week between the two appointments to ensure the results come back in time.
  • Please allow a week for blood results to come back before calling for them.
  • If your results come back with any abnormalities, we will contact you to arrange an appointment for these to be discussed with a clinician.
  • Our admin and reception staff are not medically trained to discuss your blood results with you. They can only tell you if your blood tests are normal or if you require an appointment.

Blood Pressure

We offer onsite blood pressure checks for our patients. If you need to get your blood pressure checked, call the practice or pop in to speak to our receptionists. These appointments can be booked with our nursing associates or health care assistants.

If you require your bloodwork and blood pressure to be taken, we will try to accommodate this and organise a double appointment for this to be done.

However, if you require your blood pressure to be checked and cannot get an appointment, you can also take your blood pressure readings at home if you have access to a blood pressure monitor. We understand that times are hard, and if you cannot afford a home blood pressure monitor, then a pharmacist is able to do this for you. Pop into your local pharmacy to see if this is a service they offer; if they cannot, they will point you in the direction of a pharmacy that can.

If you choose one of these methods, we will need you to submit the readings to us, either via phone call, in person, or via our patients' email, patients.woodside@nhs.net.

If you have been advised or asked to complete a home blood pressure monitoring form (HBPM), Please download the files below, fill out the HBPM form, and send it back to us at the practice. You can print and fill out the form and hand deliver it to the practice, or you can complete it all electronically and email it back to us at the above email address.
